I would say it was doing its job in that regard lol. It's rare to find a horror game that successfully spooks you, let alone intelligently funnels your behavior based on such. That sort of avoidance really helps building tension, atmosphere and reinforcing the games stakes and the scarcity of gear

I dont speak borscht -- but from what google translate says this means, it sounds pretty rude there vadim, and it seems that you didnt understand a word of what I was discussing in the vid anyways. the background video was literally some footage I threw together testing out a pack just so that there was something happening in the video, its not meant to be anything worth of note.

@@Андрей-ч3ц6в because youre arguing I cant say anything because I "dont know how to disassemble a dragon skeleton". I was pantomiming playing a xylophon on dragon bones in the vid, not trying to collect it. I know youre supposed to disassemble it with an empty hand. I've been with this community since alpha and I know how most mods work. I have seveal published modpacks between curseforge and even back on Technic Launcher-- have worked as an artist for various mod projects, and have interacted with the development side of the community for a long time. the vid was literally me wandering and fucking around with no goal. I was even breaking ice with a stick. I recorded FILLER for a POINTLESS PART OF A VIDEO.

0:58 I never said modders were incapable of reaching Mojang standards, just that they are not obligated to. 1:36 I addressed this point in the video - more funding doesn't necessarily translate to faster, better updates. 1:55 I know some developers for Bedrock edition that are part of Mojang, and regardless it all falls under Minecraft. They aren't separate like 4J. 2:25 The 600 employees are not all coders. You have management, marketing, producers, artists, designers, community managers, testers... 3:29 They may be inspired by mods, or have similar content to mods, but the implementation is vastly different. I explained this in the video also. 4:52 I am not defending the company, but the developers, some of which are my friends. And I've gotten plenty of money from the ad revenue.

I appreciate you taking the time to watch and have a listen to what I had to say-- I'll respond in key with each of your own points: 1) it may not have been that you said those exact words, but it certainly came off as such, as in it appeared to be the implication of. we're not obligated to follow that level of due diligence for quality, but there are quite a few of us who do. 2) Yes, it doesnt mean speedier things can be done, but increasing workflow bandwidth DOES work for a lot of things. multiple artists can render texture sets and model mockups much faster, a group of trained management can make the calls a single overseer would bottleneck, a team of QA bugtesters can run through lists of checks more rapidly than a couple. force multiplication *does* exist, and should be acknowledged as playing its part in this all. a colleague mentioned that they could probably trim some fat and shorten their dev cycle by a month but it wouldnt be as worth it. I can agree with this and find that fine-- but I do note that mojang *is capable of* and *has been in the past* kind of lazy/incompetent in some things. you did indeed note that some updates did incur backlash, but it was certainly downplayed. 3)Ah, was not aware of that-- however I will note that the fact that you have friends working there might be a bit of a root bias in this whole... dialogue here. 4) Oh i'm well aware, but even at that point, my background as a professional illustrator has me at least knowing that they cant have THAT many people assigned to marketing or relations. the major meat of HR has to go to organization and asset dev-- meaning youre still looking at a large team for work, as well as being backed up by other substudio contracts under MS employ. 5) I dunno-- It would appear they often do not pay the lipservice they should to the modders for the new things they add in-- acting as if they were wholely originally self-inspired to create these systems. that rubs the wrong way hard and goes a long way to feeling like theres a solid exploitation and disrespect of that portion of their base. 6) again, I think its close to home for you as you speaking about the broader MC Modding community is close to home for me. However, you mistake my point; *Mojang* isnt paying you a dime for your hard work, nor giving you special privileges' for defending them or glossing their mistakes. the *company* doesnt care about you-- your friends? I would certainly expect they do, but theyre 1/~600. they dont make policy or stand as major shotcallers (to what I know). having the connection to some folks who are in the thick of it there can for some cloud their ability to see the group's actions clearly. all in all, I mostly made this cause it genuinely felt like you were strawmanning folks who have genuine issue and pause with mojang's behavior and decisions as being something worth derision. I got off in the weeds discussing my own issues with the company, but it was sorta... related considering that was in line with replying to the meat of your vid there. again, I appreciate you took the time to watch and make this response.

@@Caligator89 1) If that's the vibe you got, it certainly wasn't intended. 2) I don't know the ins and outs of Mojang; I can't calculate the optimal developer team size. I can only explain why their workforce isn't the size of AAA studio. And I'm certainly not denying they've made mistakes in the past. 3) I certainly am biased towards wanting my friends to have a less stressful life. I like spreading understanding and kindness. 4) For all we know, they could have that many people assigned to marketing and relations. They are the studio behind the biggest game in the world, after all. And there's Minecraft: Dungeons to consider too. 5) A mod doesn't have rights to an open-ended idea, especially something that already exists in the real world. There is no reason for Mojang to acknowledge a mod that added something similar if the implementation and inspiration are independent. 6) And if Mojang was paying me I would be called a shill. I do this because I want to give others insight. Mojang certainly isn't perfect, but if I were to list all my problems with the game I would be there all day. I primarily explain how development works - it is the part closest to the community - and I am not qualified to make a judgement as a whole. I did my best to address all the arguments of people who believe Mojang is lazy - in fact I do my best to steelman them to make my own argument more watertight. That's why I addressed each aspect of development in detail - I didn't even mention Minecraft updates were free because that was an easy argument; instead I explained how Minecraft's business model works. I explained all of Mojang's responsibilities that modders don't have. And I haven't yet seen a comment that makes a good point against my argument - they either didn't watch the video, didn't pay attention, strawmanned my points, made absurd comparisons, or stated other problems with Minecraft and Mojang that were valid, but ultimately had nothing to do with developers being lazy or not.

REE to the left, REE to the right... //Pre-empting my tangent about the tangents. Gator understands what runs through my head with Nintendo stuff lately. "Please, no amiibos and nothing that could potentially end the series. PLEASE, the series is too good for that shit. D: " And inevitably: "Fucking.... Dammit. Fine, back to finding fan games." o 3o Far as I know this remake of Samus Returns is the first I've seen of Mercury Steam's work, so... I'm a lot more hesitant. Still, the remake seems like a good game- amiibos aside. As for the outrage, right now we're between a BIG wave and a little wave; amiibos will be taken on some time after lootboxes are finally gone. And failing that, note the trend of Nintendo giving other dev companies use of their IPs. They're aware that they're stumbling, and are trying to mitigate that by stepping back from the dev process itself while still maintaining an iron death-grip. 's gonna cost 'em whole games if they keep up that latter part; their publishing practices are worse than their business ones, and that'll blow up in their face.
